Job Description


JOB SUMMARY

Produces quality plates for press and other related work as requited. The incumbent regularly interacts with all other prepress personnel, all members of the Production Department, most pressmen and CSRs. This person also interacts daily with all platemaking equipment: plate setter, plate processors, etc.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produces plates: verifies information on the job jackets and art before producing; checks with appropriate internal resources if there is a conflict in information; checks plates against proofs; transfers flats to file system; places proofs in job jacket and with job jacket plates; delivers plates to pressroom; and enters data on computer to appropriately charge time and materials to each job completed
  • Estimates usage of materials and request supplies when necessary
  • Keeps a clean and organized work area
  • Maintains equipment and performs minor machine and repairs as needed
  • Performs all other tasks as assigned by Prepress Manager/Supervisor


CRITICAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • High School education or equivalent
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Good natural or corrected eyesight
  • Ability to distinguish color


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by any employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing these duties the employee is regularly required to converse with other employees in an effective manner. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers, sit, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to operate platemaking equipment as well as other small office machinery. The employee must frequently move between locations, and lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. The incumbent must be able to distinguish between different shades of colors. Mild red-green color defects may be acceptable, however, complete color blindness is disqualifying. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with other disabilities to perform these essential functions.
