Environmental Health and Safety Supervisor

We are looking for an Environmental Health and Safety Supervisor who will report to the Site Director. This role exists to create a safe work environment and promote a culture of safety excellence in a manufacturing setting which includes fabrication and assembly of aluminum fishing boats. The position leads and oversees all components of the Environment, Health and Safety Programs that are driven by compliance but seeking industry best practices.

YOU'LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of the site's overall strategy for employee health and safety that includes methods for injury and workplace illness prevention.

  • Conduct risk assessments of job tasks and utilize the results to develop and implement mitigation strategies.

  • Oversee the incident investigation process ensuring that all incidents are investigated for root cause and adequate protective measures are implemented according to investigation.

  • Design and facilitate training for all applicable employees ensuring all objectives have been met and appropriate documentation is kept.

  • Create written programs as applicable that outline roles and responsibilities at all levels of the organization for safety sensitive operations or as required by Federal or local laws.

  • Plan, implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPI) that focus on compliance, injury prevention and continuous improvement which result in injury and illness trend declines.

  • Conduct or ensure industrial hygiene (IH) monitoring is conducted and analyzed for air quality and noise and use the information to implement strategies for improvement based on the hierarchy of controls.

  • Create emergency response plans and teams using appropriate documents, training, and drills for all emergency response activities necessary for the site including fire, severe weather, chemical spill or violent incidents.

  • Manage all worker's compensation claims from date of injury to closure ensuring a safe return to work for the employee and cost reduction strategies for the employer.


Work environment:

The EHSS Supervisor will spend considerable time in an office setting as well as in a manufacturing setting. The manufacturing environment includes exposure to noise, heat, machines, and walking/standing on concrete floors. The EHSS Supervisor may spend time outdoors in adverse weather conditions.

YOU'LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience leading EHS Programs in a manufacturing setting.

  • Demonstrated ability in conducting complex investigations with end-to-end implementation of action plans that eliminate or reduce risk.

  • Experience designing and administering effective training programs which ensure worker understanding of risk and the necessary behavior modifications to eliminate or reduce risk.

  • Skilled in conducting risk assessments on process and equipment as well as designing and managing systematic risk mitigation strategies.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety, engineering or related field.

  • Advanced credential such as Certified Safety Professional or Certified Industrial Hygienist.

  • Bilingual in Spanish.
