    Assignment Details:
    This position will work at two locations: Minnetonka Middle School East (MME) and SAIL (District Transition Building for students ages 18-22)


    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Provides individual and group support to help students resolve and/or cope with personal, emotional and social problems that interfere with their educational experience.
    2. Provides services to families as a part of helping their student; to gain family participation in resolving their student's problems and assist families to better understand the school and its programs.
    3. Serves as a member of a multidisciplinary team to assess and/or reassess students referred for special education services.
    4. Prepares and implements appropriate service plans for special education students, refers child/family to community agencies as needed, documents progress in the Individual Education Plan (IEP), attends IEP meetings.
    5. Serve as a liaison between the home, school community and other agencies through maintenance of positive relationships.
    6. Provides crisis intervention services.
    7. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.


    Specific Responsibilities:

    1. Provide assessments which involve preparation of social and developmental histories.
    2. Other tasks include administering social interaction instruments, interviewing parents, child and staff, observation of child in school, collection of agencies reports, and review of school information.
    3. Participates in faculty meetings, special education meetings and in-service training.
    4. Fosters social work development through participation in workshops and conferences.


    Knowledge and Skills:

    1. Has demonstrated knowledge in using a variety of behavior management strategies.
    2. Demonstrated ability to apply appropriate skills in performing daily routines.
    3. Demonstrated ability to operate a computer, software and necessary technology.
    4. Ability to develop effective and positive working relationships with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community.
    5. Show initiative and function as a self-starter.
    6. Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
