About the Job

Position Description
The School of Physics and Astronomy in the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, invites applications for a Teaching Faculty position. The appointment will be at the level of full professor.

The standard teaching load for teaching faculty in the School is two courses per semester, at least one of which is a large service course at the 1XXX level. In addition, the candidate will have a service load equivalent to that of the regular faculty of the School. This typically includes service on two committees (one if chairing a committee) and other tasks such as academic advising and participating in outreach.

50 % Teaching introductory courses. Duties will involve preparing, delivering and administering the lectures, quizzes, tests, and homework of your assigned course. You will also supervise the team of teaching assistants who will be assigned to the laboratory and discussion sections for your course and will help you with grading and grade tabulations.

30% Teaching advanced courses. Duties will involve preparing, delivering and administering the lectures, quizzes, tests, and homework of your assigned course. The candidate may be assigned to any advanced major class or graduate class.

20% Service. The candidate will serve on up to two committees and is expected to assist with advising and other aspects of academic program administration, including outreach.

Other duties of a similar scope as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:
Candidates are expected to hold a Ph.D. in physics or other related fields
The demonstrated ability (as evidenced by at least 10 years of experience) to teach physics effectively at both the graduate and undergraduate levels is required. The candidate should be dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment and should be committed to working well with others.
