We have an opportunity for an ESG Controller to join our Golden Valley, MN team. You will help build out and refine the foundation for ensuring the organization's readiness for voluntary and mandatory reporting of our ESG metrics and targets and compliance with global regulatory requirements. You will represent Global Controllership - and Finance broadly - as you work closely with our ESG, HR, and other teams. You will:

  • Design, implement, and monitor a risk-based internal control framework over the ESG data collection and reporting processes to facilitate both limited assurance (initially) and reasonable assurance (future state).
  • Partner with legal and social responsibility to create an ESG reporting and disclosure framework, including developing new (and enhancing existing) policies and procedures
  • Facilitate ESG data management and risk assessments across the organization to support the disclosure strategy.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to align, implement and document ESG data requirements and KPIs to support the organizational ESG strategy.
  • Provide key ESG reporting support for both mandatory and voluntary disclosures, including development and publication of all required regulatory disclosures, including CSRD
  • Address compliance gaps and proactively identify opportunities to improve the ESG internal control environment to ensure consistency and transparency of ESG data, and define auditable and efficient reporting processes.
  • Participate in activities to support the preparation, review and assurance of external ESG reporting, and lead partnership with external auditors during audits of defined sustainability metrics.
  • Work with Internal Audit to facilitate internal monitoring and validation efforts over data and related controls.
  • Maintain broad understanding of ESG reporting landscape, working with Legal and social responsibility, including various reporting frameworks and standards and disclosure legislation
  • Monitor the organization's performance for key ESG reporting initiatives and report to senior leadership and/or the Board (and their committees) on a periodic basis.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 8+ years of accounting or finance experience, 4+ years of management experience
  • Professional accounting certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent
  • Experience working in a multinational environment under different reporting requirements
  • Experience implementing or operating an internal control framework over financial reporting
  • Business partnering and cross-group collaboration skills; ability to steward large groups of diverse stakeholders, gather different points of view, and create recommended approaches, influencing across multiple functions in a complex organization
  • Subject matter expertise and/or a passion for ESG concepts, frameworks and standards is preferred.
  • ESG reporting and metrics expertise and experience preferred
