Job Description
Position Objective: Assure Wagner Spray Tech manufactured materials conform to specifications set forth in engineering documentation, while operating in the most cost-effective manner. Through active participation, support new product development and sustaining engineering activities in a manner that results in product designs that meet user expectations. Responsibilities: Participate in the development and implementation of new products and manufactured materials and well as revisions to existing products and manufactured materials to ensure that product designs meet user needs and are as cost effective as possible. 25% 2.Develop and implement tactical quality plans that assure product meets requirements. Define process steps necessary to assure quality is built into Wagner products. Document work instructions, define equipment needs and train hourly employees on these process steps. Assure steps are in place that monitor process results. 15% 3.Work internally and with suppliers of assemblies and components to develop processes that provide assurance the products and/or components meet specifications. Interpret incomplete or ambiguous specifications to ensure suppliers clearly understand Wagner's requirements. 10% 4.Direct movement and disposition of non-conforming materials and provide work instruction on any sorting and/or rework activities. Investigate the cause of non-conforming product and assure corrective actions are implemented that address the root cause. 10% 5.Prepare test plans for the qualification of product revisions, supplier changes and new products. Test plans must be thorough and designed in a manner that assures customer needs are considered. 5% 6.Performs other duties and assumes accountabilities as apparent or as delegated, including mutually agreed upon objectives. Relationship to Others: Provides work direction to outside supplier partners, internal inspection and test employees. Works closely with peers in Operations, Engineering, Marketing, and supplier partners. Travel: Occasional local or regional travel may be required. International travel would be rare but possible. Occasional contact with customers and end-users to address quality concerns. Dimensions of Position: Position is critical to the company's objective to introduce new products that are successful in the market. Works with sensitive company design and quality data including specifications and costs. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Education Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline Experience Minimum of five years' experience in a manufacturing environment. Technical knowledge of machining, brazing, sintering, testing and carbide assembly equipment a strong plus. Good working knowledge of various manufacturing processes including: injection molding, die casting, machining, extrusions and electro-mechanical assembly. Experience with engineering documentation systems, design drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, gauging and a variety of inspection/test equipment and design-support tools such as QFD, FMEA, DFMA. Prefer experience with APQP, PPAP, and understanding of 8D (Ishikawa) root cause analysis. Familiar with ISO 9000 requirements. Past audit experience a plus. Certification in ASQ or Six Sigma is preferred. Skills Working knowledge of Microsoft office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access Understanding of industrial control software to include GageMetrics, ASI DATAMYTE QDA Team player who maintains a positive attitude Should be influential and be able to motivate other people Driver towards continuous improvement/quality-focused Takes initiative and ownership Exercises good judgment and decision making with ability to examine data to grasp issues, draw conclusions, and solve problems.
