Job Description:

The position performs physical labor at Industrial Cleaning construction project sites. Labor may include cleaning tanks, working with vacuum trucks, performing hydro blasting and a variety of other tasks.

A Day in the Life at Veit

  • Tank cleaning, hydro blasting, vacuum truck services, material handling and various confined space waste removal.

  • Each Laborer must understand proper hazardous materials handling and packaging and proper use of personal protective equipment specifically defined by the requirement of the working environment.

  • Laborers are responsible for preparing the job site to reduce hazardous exposure and must be knowledgeable and experienced in running equipment associated with cleaning and collecting of waste materials.

  • The Laborer may also assist in planning and determining material needs.

  • Cleans process equipment.

  • Maintains a clean job site at all times. Picks up all material, tools, and small equipment and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards.

  • Responsible for material handling and storage.

  • Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings any concerns to the attention of the project Foreman, Superintendent, General Superintendent, Safety Director or Management.

What You'll Need

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER

  • Confined Space Entry

  • 10 or 30 Hour OSHA

  • Willingness and ability to perform manual work

  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency as required by management and/or project requirements

  • Preferred: Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) License

  • Preferred: Medical card for operating a DOT vehicle

Other

  • Respiratory Clearance Exam (PFT-Pulmonary Function Test)

  • Ability to wear respirator

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.

  • Position requires 8 to 12-hour workdays and occasional weekends, as needed. Must be flexible regarding work hours.

  • Position requires up to 50% travel.

  • All Laborers are responsible to maintain refresher certification courses and updating respirator fit tests when required.

  • Laborers are required to attend safety meetings driven my Veit and customer guidelines.

  • The Laborer may also assist in implementing the Heath and Safety Plans utilized by Veit personnel assigned to the location.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by any employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. Often required tosit, stand, walk, bend knees, stretch arms, talk and hear. Occasionally required to stoop or kneel.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those employees encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. Employee is exposed to environmental conditions, working near machines and loud noises associated with construction sites. Exposed to variable weather conditions including rain, snow, wind, cold and heat.
